A very old lady won an egg, which will help
some disadvantaged kids spend a day at Gulliver’s Land

Ickwell May Day
The Lions were busy erecting their stall at 8.30am on a chilly, grey morning. By 9.30 we were ready to welcome visitors with a wide range of offerings ranging from our famous lucky mugs (everyone a winner), paperback books, jigsaws and a variety of bric-a-brac.
We had games for young and old. A golf putting game – you need to get 3 of the 5 balls in the hole to win a football. We had 9 lucky winners. The £10 prize on the skittle alley goes to the person with the highest score on the day.
As the weather started to warm up, so the footfall increased and the food stalls did a roaring trade. The dancing round the maypole started and the crowds kept coming. The highest score on the skittles got stuck at 8 with several contenders. Then the breakthrough with a man scoring 12 which proved to be the winner. The sun tried to break through the clouds and then it was time to take everything down and to leave the pitch as tidy as when we arrived. A long but enjoyable day bringing some joy and laughter to many.

Our Easter Egg Draw raised just short of £1,500 which will make a most helpful contribution towards the cost of taking a 50 seater coach of disadvantaged children and their carers to Gullivers land in August and buying them lunch and wristbands for the rides.
We would like to congratulate Kath, aged 101, the winner of the Easter Egg draw at the Five Bells, Henlow; it only shows that you’re never too old to have a go
Everyone enjoyed our day at Gulliver’s Land in 2025
